Learning Auto Repair

Auto Repair Can be Stressful

Taking your car to the auto shop for repairs is nerve racking for the majority of people.  There are only so many times that we can ignore that check engine light before we start shopping around.

The first thing that concerns most people is the cost.  We wonder: is this garage charging me a fair price?  Should I go down the street for a better price?  But, what if they can’t do the job right?  What are their reviews like?  And how many different quotes should I get – two, three, five??  Everyone has to balance these factors and what is most important to them when deciding where to get their car repaired.

Personal Attention & Education

At Bona Bros., we understand this process produces anxiety and we believe the number one thing that helps to reduce it may not be the most obvious…. And that is, education.

We take our promise of personal service extremely seriously and want you to walk away satisfied that your car is safe and you were treated fairly.  Our experience shows that a customer who knows the basics of how their car or truck works is much more likely to have a pleasant experience.  And yes, vehicles are complex and technology is only speeding up, but their overall components have remain unchanged over many decades and can be surprisingly simple to grasp.

To help our customers in this process, we are putting together our Auto Repair 101 series so that owners can learn how their car works.  By the end, you will be able to name the different components that make up a vehicle, how they interact, and some basic terms. We hope this knowledge will help make you a more informed consumer and lessen the unknowns of auto repair.

We will break this series up into the following categories with an in-depth article on each one:

  1. Engine & Exhaust
  2. Steering & Suspension
  3. Drive Train
  4. Brake System
  5. Electrical System

We will include pictures, videos, and easy to understand explanations so we hope you take the time to read each one.  It really will pay off the next time you’re in the shop for a tune up or repair!
